It has happened.
Your Transavia flight is delayed and is not gonna depart in time.
It happens. Every day. Here is what you should do next.
First things first, for how long is your flight going to be delayed?
Is it a short delay then wait for a while and proceed as planned.
If it’s a long delay, stay at home longer. And continue checking your Transavia flight status online once in a while. Two great options for this are FlightStats and Flightradar24. Alternatively go to the website of the airport.
Do you have a connecting flight you may miss now?
Think of what you are going to do about that flight.
Transavia doesn’t sell connecting flights. Which means they aren’t going to put you on another flight if you miss the first one. Even if it’s their fault that the flight is delayed. You will have to deal with that yourself. That's just how connecting flights with low cost airlines work. It's also known as a self transfer.
If it’s the airline's fault, though, you may receive compensation (in cash or bank transfer). But it’s not gonna happen right away and you will have to file a claim. What you might be entitled to right away is free food, free drinks and free hotel room in some cases.
For more information on Transavia delay compensation scroll down.
Go and see if you can check in for your flight.
If the check in has started, then go and check in.
There is no reason to postpone it.
If you have already checked in online, proceed through airport security. You'll make a claim for Transavia compensation later (if it's a 3+ hour flight delay).
And… wait for more information.
Find some place to sit down and check the airport information screens once in a while. Do it every 20-30 minutes. Because information regarding your Transavia flight delay may change (often it will change). You can alse keep checking your flight status online.
If Transavia delays the flight 3+ hours, it has to take care of you.
Because that’s the rules here in Europe.
If the delay is going to be 3 or more hours, the airline has to provide you with a free meal and drink, plus two free phone calls, e-mails or faxes. Food and drinks are mostly provided in form of coupons, that you can redeem at the airport.
Transavia is a Dutch low-cost airline (European airline).
Which means that it applies to all Transavia delays.
Will you have to wait overnight?
In this case free hotel accommodation, plus food and drinks should be provided. Apart from that it’s the airline’s responsibility to take you to the hotel. In some situations they will book you into airport hotel. When the hotel is somewhere else, free transportation must be provided.
If it isn’t offered, ask for it.
It applies to all Transavia flight delays and cancellations.
All passengers are eligible to it, no matter the citizenship. In these situations you don't have to be European to have the same rights like Europeans.
In this case you may also be owed a flight delay compensation up to €600.
That is if the reason of the delay is something within Transavia's control. For example, if they make a mistake in calculations and now there is not enough staff for the flight. Or if there is a technical problem with the aircraft, that should have been taken care of.
If the delay is less than 3 hours, it doesn’t count.
If it's 3+ hours, you should claim for flight delay compensation.
Here are some of the top reasons why flights get delayed.
Your Transavia flight is cancelled.
Or maybe your flight is delayed at first, and then Transavia cancels the flight.
What's next? Could you be entitled to flight cancellation compensation?
Your flight is cancelled.
Have you received an email from Transavia? If yes, in the same email you should be able to find the answers to everything from what has happened to what should you do now. If something isn’t clear. Or you don’t agree with any solutions offered. Then get back to the airline.
Haven’t received anything? If your flight is today or tomorrow, contact Transavia customer service now.
Mostly you’ll be offered to take another flight or receive full refund.
Choose what suits your situation the best.
Even in the worst situations, when the flight is cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances, you still have the right to ask for a full refund.
Are there other flight that are going to be affected?
Take it into account when making a decision.
Transavia doesn’t sell connecting flights. Hence it’s fully your responsibility. If there's another flight you're going to miss, and you’ll have to book a new flight instead, you will have to pay for that particular flight from your pocket.
Are you already at the airport?
First of all, don’t proceed through airport security yet.
Because you may not fly anywhere today.
And wait for more information. It will come. The airline has to take you to your destination, no matter the reason of the cancellation.
If you are in rush, you can try and contact the airline’s staff. But be prepared for long queues. Hundred if not several hundreds other passengers will be doing the same. And the airline staff most probably will not be informed yet about any further actions.
If you have already gone through airport security, wait for more information.
If you don’t have checked in luggage and if it’s possible, go back to the arrivals and wait there. Because there will be a new flight and you will have to check in for that new flight.
Don’t forget about your checked in luggage! If you have it, contact the airline staff to learn when and where will you be able to collect it. Mostly you will need to collect it yourself and check in for the new flight yourself.
There will be a new flight.
Transavia has offered you to fly a few hours later.
You have accepted the offer.
What else you should know is that you now might be entitled to free meal and drink and two free phone calls, e-mails or faxes. That’s in case you have to wait at the airport for 3+ hours more than originally.
Contact the airline staff to ask for it.
Since Transavia is a European airline, it applies to all its flights.
Free hotel accommodation, free transport to and from it, plus free meals and drinks should be provided if it is going to be an overnight delay. And again it should be provided by your airline. It’s the responsibility of Transavia to provide you with it.
No matter your citizenship or whether you have travel insurance.
It applies to all flights.
It doesn’t matter if the ticket cost only €20.
You may be owed flight cancellation compensation up to €600.
That’s up to €600 per passenger.
If you are a family of three, you may receive up to €1800 euro.
All it takes is for one of you to file a claim.
And, yes, you are still entitled to already mentioned free food, free accommodation and a new flight to your destination. Taking any (or all) of that will not in any way affect your chances of receiving flight cancellation compensation. You can still file a claim for Transavia compensation for cancellation.
It applies only if you are informed of the flight cancellation less than 14 days in advance. If you were informed earlier than that, if your flight was cancelled more than 2 weeks before the trip, the airline is only obliged to provide you with an alternative flight to your destination or pay you a full refund.
Here are some of the top reasons why flights get cancelled.
So, your Transavia flight was heavily delayed.
It departed late, hence you have arrived to your destination more than 3 hours later than planned. If that was Transavia’s fault now you are entitled to a decent flight delay compensation. Up to €600 per passenger to be exact.

2. Or - let’s work together. Register your flight online at refundor.com.
We will do the rest - we will be your legal representatives.

You will have to take care of that yourself. And, the worst part, you will have to pay for that from your pocket.
Think twice if it’s a risk you are willing to take.
As mentioned above, in some situations you may be able to receive compensation up to €600 per passenger from Transavia. If, for example, your first flight is cancelled last-minute (less than 2 weeks before departure). Or if it’s delayed for 3+ hours.
