Your flight is delayed. What should you do?
There are two most likely scenarios (see below). But the most important thing — don’t worry. You’ll get to your destination. Keep in mind, that if your Thai Airways International flight departs from the EU, you are entitled to receive certain services from the airline for free. And, in some situations, you are entitled to Thai flight delay compensation.
Let’s assume, you are still at home/hotel.
The most important thing is to find out what is the flight check in status. Has it been delayed, too? Or will it happen as planned? You can find this out by contacting the airline or the airport you are flying from. See, what works the best for you.
If check in is going to be delayed, wait for a while.
If check in isn't delayed, go to the airport as normally.
Do you have another flight you may miss?
What if there’s a possibility that you might miss your connection? Will you be booked on another flight? If it’s an airline-protected connecting flight, you are protected by the airline. The airline will put you on another flight completely for free. If you booked your flights separately, they are so called self transfer flights. And you won’t be entitled to free tickets in case of missed flight.
You have arrived at the airport, but unfortunately your flight is late. What now? Just like in the previous situation, find out what is the check in status for your flight.
If check in hasn’t started, for now just wait.
There’s no need to rush to your gate. Do not go through airport security just yet. It might be a very long delay, or your flight might even get cancelled altogether. That’s why it’s better to just wait until you see that the check in for your flight starts. Even if you have checked in already, and don’t really need it anymore.
If check has started, that’s a good sign.
Check in, if you haven’t already.
And then you can proceed through airport security.
