1. What to do if your flight is DELAYED?

Delayed. Your flight is going to be delayed.

In what situations can you ask for compensation?

1.1 If you are still at home

Did you check your flight status online?

Most likely you did, and this is how you learned of the delay. First thing you should do in such a situation is to find out what’s the situation with check in. Is check in also delayed or is it happening as planned? Call the airport or your airline, and ask. Do it even if you have already checked in, and aren’t planning to use airport check in. So, you know, if to wait or to proceed to the airport as planned.

If check in is going to be delayed, wait for a while.

If check in isn't delayed, go to the airport as normally.

Do you have another flight you may miss?

If it’s a separately booked flight, this is your responsibility. Unlike with airline-protected connecting flights, where airline takes care of such and similar travel disruptions. Flights like these are called self transfer flights.

1.2 If you are already at the airport

Go and see the check in desk.

If check in hasn’t started, for now just wait.

If check in is delayed, your flight may also get cancelled. That’s why it’s better to just wait for a while. Until you see that the check in for your flight starts.

If check has started, that’s a good sign.

You can proceed as normally.

Clock on the wall

- 3 hour flight delay

Level is a European airline.

And that means you are protected by the EU.

If you have to wait at the airport, there are some things you should know. In case of waiting for 3+ hours extra, you have a right to care from the airline. Level has to provide you with two free phone calls or e-mails (or internet access) and also a free meal and drink.

This applies to all Level delays and all passengers.

All thanks to Regulation EC 261/2004.

- Long delay (Overnight delay)

If the delay is longer, you may also get free accommodation.

Free hotel accommodation and free transfer has to be offered.

Everyone has the right to this type of care.

1.3 If it is fault of Level

That includes things like technical problems and human error.

In this case, you may also be entitled to EU flight delay compensation.

If you have — file a compensation claim.

2. What to do if your flight is CANCELLED?

Cancelled. Your flight is going to be cancelled.

How is it going to affect your travel plans? Will Level offer you a new flight? In what situations can you ask for compensation?

2.1 If you are still at home

You have to find out what’s happening next.

Contact the airline if you haven’t yet received any offer.

Generally speaking, in the EU and with EU airlines everything is very simple. They just offer you a new flight or refund, and you make a choice. You have a right to request a refund if you don’t want to take an alternative flight (and if it doesn’t fit your travel plans). This refund has to be paid to your bank account — you don’t have to agree to coupons.

When it’s fault of the airline, often you have a right to compensation.

More on that further below.

2.2 If you are already at the airport

Don’t go through the airport security.

Your flight is cancelled. There will be a new flight. Most likely. There should be a new flight. Level should offer a new flight to the same destination as soon as possible. And you will have to check in for that new flight. So, don’t go through the airport security. Try to get in touch with the representatives of Level to learn what’s happening next.

Ask for a refund, if you don’t want to take the new flight.

- 3 hour flight delay

Level is an airline registered in the EU.

And that means you are protected by the EU.

If you have to wait at the airport, due to delay, cancellation or denied boarding, you have a right to care from the airline. The airline has to provide you with two free phone calls or e-mails (or internet access) and also a free meal and drink.

- Long delay (Overnight delay)

If you have to wait overnight, you have a right to free accommodation.

Free hotel accommodation and free transfer has to be offered. It is airline's responsibility, and every passenger has a right to this type of care. However, it’s assessed case by case. And the airline may decide not to provide that. If, for example, the waiting time is 6 hours, and it would take 2-3 hours to take everyone to a hotel.

2.3 If it is fault of Level

That includes also things like technical problems and planning.

If that causes a cancellation, it is considered fault of the airline.

And you may also be entitled to EU flight cancellation compensation.

5. How to claim Level denied boarding compensation?

You may get denied boarding even if you have a valid ticket.

It happens when an airline sells too many tickets, and everyone shows up for the flight. If your flight is overbooked, you too may be asked to give up your seat. You can agree to that, and take another flight offered by the airline, or you may refuse that. Whenever you aren’t even given a choice, you have a right to EU denied boarding compensation.

With Level it applies to all their flights to and from Europe.

Compensation amounts are fixed — 250, 400 or 600 euro.

And mostly you can get both — a new flight or refund and compensation.

It applies only to overbooking. If there are problems with your travel documents, your passport expires soon, or if you voluntarily give up your seat, and agree to fly later, then you won’t be entitled to any compensation from Level.
