With so many interesting places around the world finding the next holiday destination may be not the easiest task. To help you with this we’ve created this list of interesting places to visit - one destination for every month. All of these destinations are different, so that everyone can choose a place to visit during the next vacation.
Some of the places we recommend are perfect for relaxing holiday by the beach, some - great for sightseeing and day trips, others - for adventurous travellers and hikers.
One of the things that matters is when you visit the country.
It’s because of the seasons. Some places are more interesting to visit during the summer, others - winter. Some countries have monsoon season - a season of heavy rain, strong wind and flooding. And some of the countries we recommend are worth a visit especially during the autumn.

Myanmar, once one of the most isolated countries in the world, opened up for foreign tourists only recently - in 2012.
Even though there are still nationwide problems in Myanmar, number of international tourists grows every year. However, Myanmar still is considered as an off-the-beaten-path destination.
Myanmar is home to magnificent temples and pagodas, freshwater lakes and extremely friendly people. You might be surprised, but you can also find beautiful beaches in Myanmar!
Most people know Malaysia thanks to its twin towers.
Yes, the Petronas Towers indeed are very impressive. Once they were the tallest buildings in the world, and they remain the tallest twin towers in the world.
But there’s more to Malaysia than Kuala Lumpur and its impressive buildings!
Malaysia boasts a rich cultural heritage, grand mosques, beautiful beaches, divine islands and virgin jungles. Visit Penang, food capital of Malaysia, for one of a kind dining experiences! The weather in March is pleasant and there is no rain.
Mexico is home to gorgeous cities, beautiful beaches and stunning Mayan ruins. Not to mention delicious Mexican food! Head to Tulum, a little beach town in Yucatán Peninsula, to relax on the beach, and explore Mayan ruins. Visit Puebla and Mérida to explore colonial buildings. Also don’t miss Guanajuato - a hill town in central Mexico!
Late March to end of April is the best time to enjoy beautiful Japanese spring. In spring, starting from February, the cherry trees (sakura) are blossoming across whole country.
Some of the best places where one can enjoy cherry blossom viewing are located around the Fuji Five Lakes (Fujigoko). These places also provide magnificent sights of Mount Fuji. The cherry blossoms there typically peak around mid April.
Shimeji castle, gardens of Tokyo and Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto are among the best places for viewing, too.
Before planning a trip to Japan in spring check the cherry blossom forecast, as different parts of Japan experience spring at different times.
Japan has so many incredible places to visit, such as Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto, magnificent Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine, Osaka castle, Himeji castle and temples of Nara. Visit also these places while you are in Japan!
Go to Fuerteventura to enjoy summer while there’s still spring in most of Europe!
In May temperature during the day is pleasant - not too cool and not too hot. However, because of the location of the island (next to Africa) nights might be a little cool, just like during the most time of the year. So, don’t forget to take a hoodie!
Fuerteventura is a great alternative to Tenerife, which is the most popular of the Canary islands. This island is not as crowded and is more relaxed, making it a perfect destination for those who seek peace.
Because of its unique nature the island stands out among other holiday destinations. The lack of greenery, black volcanic sand beaches, and islands many mountains make it look like a place on another planet!
Head to Corralejo to see beautiful sand dunes and pristine white sand beaches. One of the most beautiful black sand beaches is in Ajuy. You’ll be stunned by the contrast between the blue water and the black sand.
To feel for a moment like a you’ve just discovered an uninhabited island visit wild and unspoilt Cofete beach - 12 kilometres of sand, rough seas, and mountains of Jandia in the background.
There are two parts of Malaysia separated by a the South China Sea.
The modern and populous Peninsular Malaysia and the unique - Malaysian Borneo. As it is very easy to go off the beaten track in Borneo, it’s a perfect place for adventurous people, hikers and nature lovers.
Borneo is known for its beautiful nature - ancient virgin rainforest with a high number of species, some of them endemic. Borneo also boasts alluring beaches and islands perfect for snorkelling and diving.
Borneo is home to wildlife including orangutans, proboscis monkeys, sun bears, clouded leopards, hornbills, and sea turtles. Going on a Kinabatangan River tour is one of the best ways to experience wildlife and to see orangutans and other primates.
If you want to see sea turtles, head to Lankayan Island. Between June and September the turtles come to shore to lay their eggs.
Visit Kinabalu National Park to see the worlds largest flower - rafflesia.
If you like mountains, note that 4095 m-tall Mount Kinabalu, one of the highest mountains in the region, is located in Sabah, Borneo.
Portugal is a great place to be in summer!
It’s home to a couple of the most vibrant cities of Europe, as well as quiet sleepy coastal towns which are perfect destinations for a relaxing holiday. In Portugal you’ll find beautiful beaches and stunning cliffs, and meet friendly locals.
The Europe's Westernmost point, Cabo da Roca, is located in Portugal.
In July the weather is nice throughout the country. Whether you will travel to Porto in the north or Faro in the south, you’ll experience pleasant, warm weather.
Renting a car in Portugal is the best way to see this beautiful country. That way you’ll be able to visit not only the major tourist spots (that can get very crowded during the summer!) but also see what life is like in smaller towns and villages.
Switzerland definitely is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe.
And one the best holiday destinations for summer 2019.
It’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy beautiful scenery and go for a hike in the mountains.
Visit lake Geneva, one of the largest lakes in Western Europe, and Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, with its picturesque medieval Old town.
Come to Interlaken, a popular tourist resort, to breathe in the mountain air and enjoy spectacular views of Swiss mountains. Also don’t miss the Jungfrau Railway (Jungfraubahn) and the highest train station in Europe - Jungfraujoch!
August is one of the warmest months of the year. However, it can get cool high in the mountains. So, don’t forget your jacket and jeans!
While summer is coming to an end in most parts of Europe, weather in California is still extremely warm!
Head to California to extend the summer, enjoy the nice weather and relax on the beach!
What else can you do in California? Visit Los Angeles and San Francisco, and go on an Alcatraz Prizon tour. Nature lovers definitely must visit at least one national park. Four of the most popular are: Death Valley National Park, Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park and Joshua Tree National Park.
Another reason to visit California in September is the Annual Tall Ships Festival, that takes place each year the second weekend in September.
One of the best times to witness the beauty of Latvia, this small Northern European country, is during the autumn - early to late October.
Latvia is decorated with beautiful colourful leaves, and this beauty will leave your mouth open in amazement.
The most beautiful place to enjoy colours of autumn is Sigulda. There are several trails around Sigulda that offer beautiful views of the surrounding area.
If you have little time and you only can spare time for Latvia’s capital Riga, head to Mezaparks or any other large park in Riga to see the beauty of autumn.
Abu Dhabi is the capital and second largest city of the United Arab Emirates.
Much more quieter than Dubai, Abu Dhabi still has a lot to offer. One of the most popular landmarks is Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which is considered one of the most beautiful mosques in the world.
Abu Dhabi is also home to award-winning amusement park, Ferrari World, which is one of the largest and most thrilling theme parks in the world! The world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, is located there.
In November 2017 a new museum was established in Abu Dhabi - The Louvre Abu Dhabi! Exactly, the Louvre! It’s is an art and civilization museum, just like the one in France.
As Dubai is very close (only 2 hour bus ride away) to Abu Dhabi, make a short visit to this bustling city as well.
House boats and backwaters - that’s what Kerala, a state in southern India, is famous for!
The Kerala backwaters are a chain of rivers, canals, lakes and lagoons lying parallel to the coast of Kerala.
One of the ways to see the the backwaters is to rent a house boat and go on a backwater tour. However, it’s quite expensive to rent a house boat. But there is a good option for budget travellers - government tourist boat run by State Water transport Department (SWTD). Making the whole route takes around 8 hours, and costs only 400 INR / €5 (as of July 2018).
Kerala is also home to beautiful beaches and rolling tea and spice plantations.
