Your kid can receive EU flight compensation
Because the rules are the same for everyone.
No matter the age, nationality, airline, price of the ticket or travel insurance.
In fact, you don’t need a travel insurance for this compensation.
All that matters is that it must be airline’s fault (including technical problems).
- if the flight is delayed, you may receive EU flight delay compensation;
- If the flight is cancelled - EU flight cancellation compensation;
- If there has been an overbooking - EU denied boarding compensation.
If you are flying with a EU airline, it applies to all flights to and from Europe.
If you are flying with a non-EU airline, it applies only to flights from Europe.

The amounts of the compensation are the same
They are the same as for adults.
Here’s how you can calculate it.
When destination is within the EU:
- €250 - if the distance of your flight is up to 1500 kilometres (usually 1-2 hour long flights).
- €400 - if the distance of your flight is more than 1500 kilometres.
When your destination is outside the EU:
- €250 - if the distance of your flight is up to 1500 kilometres.
- €400 - if the distance of your flight is between 1500 - 3500 kilometres.
- €600 - if the distance of your flight is more than 3500 kilometres.

The rules are the same for infants
There are some specific rules for flying with a baby.
But when it comes to flight compensation, they are the same as for adults.
Your under 2 years old can receive flight compensation, too.
And that includes also situations when you haven’t purchased a separate seat for your kid. Yes, sometimes that’s allowed, and you don’t have to purchase a seat for your kid, all you need is a special infant ticket.
